Throughout the last 35 years as a photographer and artist, Russell has worked in film and digital photography, acrylic and watercolor paints, colored pencils, pen and ink, mixed media on wood, cast metals, silver jewelry, carved foam and fiberglass sculpture and lighting and sound design for the theatre. His interests include people; both posed and candid, landscapes and cityscapes, natural and architectural details and also abstract studies in primitive icons and symbols. Russell’s photographic style is best described as a journalistic approach to positive reality. He excels at capturing precise moments of laughter, joy and inner beauty of people in primarily naturally lit environments.
For the last 6 years Russell has also been working on large, hand-embellished digital photographs printed on stretched canvas and personalized with acrylic paint.
“I simply try to capture glimpses of the “good and perfect” things I see in everyday life and show it to others in a unique way. It’s my way of introducing people to the One who created every good thing”
